My last video bonus seemed to be pretty popular, so I am rolling out another – How to Shape a Loaf of Bread. In this video you will see a simple method for shaping a loaf of bread. This can be adapted to any amount of bread and any size loaf pan. You don’t need any tools for this method, but you can use a rolling pin instead of your hands. There are lots of methods to shape a loaf, but this is simple, easy to remember and always works!
A few things to remember when shaping a loaf of bread:
~If you want the loaf to rise over the top of the pan and get that classic bread shape, fill the pan almost to the top.
~Don’t be afraid to put some muscle into the dough. The dough might resist when you are shaping it. It takes a little time to get the bread thin enough to move to the next shaping step.
~When shaping use a rocking motion of you hand, heal to fingers to push out air bubbles. Or use a rolling pin, and roll from the center out.
~Practice makes perfect. It’s true, but even when you are starting out the bread will be delicious!
* Make sure you read the tips and watch the entire video before making this or any of my recipes, not every tip makes it into the video
* In the video player you can increase the video quality (the default is very low). This will show the details of the video A LOT better! Its the cog/wheel shaped button on the right, bottom of the player.
